Auten Road closed for road repairs

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Auten Road, just east of Lilac Road, is scheduled to be closed for one week for road repairs. 

St. Joseph County is working with Premium Construction Co. to remove and replace the deteriorated concrete roadway. 

Concrete pavement must achieve a specific PSI load rating before opening the section to traffic.

One the road reaches its required strength, which takes longer with colder winter temperatures, the road will reopen. 

While commuting, plan an alternate route. 

During the road closure, traffic will be rerouted to SR 933, Darden Road and Lilac Road.

Due to concerns with the gradual sweeping curve of Darden, westbound motorists are discouraged from using Laurel Road as a detour.
