Arrest made in shooting death of Michigan City teenager
MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- An arrest has been made in the shooting death of 14-year-old Devin Porter.
On May 15, Michigan City police were called to a scene where a juvenile was shot. Porter was taken to the hospital but later died from his injuries.
Since the incident, detectives have interviewed witnesses and collected additional evidence.
Detectives then identified 19-year-old Michigan City resident Marcus Ballinger Jr. as a suspect during this investigation. Ballinger Jr. was located and taken into custody in the 1200 block of Ohio Street on May 19 at around 11:15 a.m.
A La Porte County Circuit Court judge found probable cause on May 21 to charge Ballinger with one count of Murder, a Felony.
Ballinger was issued a $1 million cash bond.
This investigation is ongoing and police say additional arrests are expected to take place.
