MICHIGAN CITY,  Ind. -- Michigan City emergency crews responded to a crash on US 421 on Monday afternoon involving an ambulance and an overturned SUV.

Authorities say the driver of the SUV was able to exit the vehicle through the back window which was broken during the crash.

"The EMT driving the Superior ambulance received minor injuries," the Michigan City Fire Department said.

"La Porte County Emergency Medical Service transported both drivers to the hospital for evaluation. The Superior ambulance was transporting a patient to the hospital at the time of the accident."
