ABC57 Road Trip: Imagination Station
TOLEDO, Ohio -- For this week’s road trip, we decided to put our brain to the test.” Welcome to Imagination Station. The Toledo, Ohio staple has been making science and learning fun for over 20 years. Unlike any other science museum, this destination offers a thrill of excitement for all ages.
“We want to be able to offer something for the entire family we are passionate about promoting life long learning, and this is the place to do that because this is hands on you can see science happen right before your eyes,” says Amy Mohr, Senior Information Officer of Imagination Station.
The museum features 7 learning worlds including the Energy Factory and an Idea Lab focusing on science and engineering. Others include grow up or eat it up teaching kids both about Agriculture and Food science. One of my favorite worlds? Mind Zone which shows just how our mind perceives the world…let’s just say it is all about perception.
Kids can get hands on with Water Works or the little ones can explore throughout Little Kidspace. Most recently, the station adding the key bank discovery theatre, a 58-foot-wide screen providing an immersive movie experience. But even beyond the worlds, the museum also offers experiments and demonstrations giving visitors the chance to learn…first hand.
The thrill continues with the high wire cycle. Defy gravity as you ride a bike 20 feet above the ground on a 1 inch cable with a 275 pound counterweight.
“They get an opportunity to discover things they never thought possible or they never experienced before this is an opportunity to learn and to have fun at the same time,” says Mohr.
