ABC57 Road Trip: Galloping Ghost Arcade

BROOKFIELD, IL -- Welcome to Galloping Ghost Arcade! The Brookfield, Illinois destination first opened in 20-10 with 130 machines. But, over a decade later, and players can find 862 games to choose from.

The arcade has every type of game you can imagine. Whether you are looking for the classic games from the mid to late 70s to the popular ones of the 2000’s – they have them all! Doc Mack first opened the galloping ghost production company back in 19-94 to design video games, but as him and his team saw arcades on the decline, they knew they had to intervene.

“We saw you would go into any arcade and the machines were not working or they were closing and that really got us this trend and that got us to what we know now as the galloping ghosts’ arcade,” says Dock Mack, owner of Galloping Ghost Arcade.  

For Galloping Ghost Arcade, the goal is to preserve the childhood fun for many, while also introducing gaming for the generations to come. The arcade operates on a ‘free play model’ meaning you pay for entry then can pick any games of your choosing!

“Growing up I would play the things I knew, but making a free play model. You are not watching the quarters; you are able to play other games and try new things and maybe find a new favorite and encourage others to play that game as well.”

Now, the gaming hub acts as a melting pot. Players of all ages, and levels come to take on the challenges!

“We have had players come since the day we opened, we have seen kids come in at 12 and they are now adults and still coming so it means so much to them they are so supportive of seeing it wanted to grow they do not want to lose this again.”
