The Niles River Festival brought music, food, and community to the riverfront area

NILES, Mich. -- The Niles River Festival didn’t stop running after overcast skies and light sprinkles filled the sky.

"I mean, the rain has let up, so it's a nice day out. Had some good music going on in the background, so that's a good vibe," said Cole Martin, a Buchanan resident.

The fest brought local pop-up vendors and charity tents to the area where all the proceeds will be given to local causes.

The event was a bit different this year with amusement rides not being part of the festival.

Residents were attracted after hearing music, "we were actually at the movie theaters and got done with the movies and heard music and saw that there was an event going on here. Just figured we'd come out and walk around, see what was going on," said Martin.

Another Michigan resident, Bob Kranc said, "atmosphere is good. Good atmosphere. It's nice. I wish the weather was better, but it was still good. People are having fun. It's worth coming. Music is good."
