South Bend job fair gives those with troubled past a second chance
SOUTH BEND, Ind.-- Thursday morning, ABC57 attended the 2nd Chance Job & Resource Fair in South Bend which aimed to provide those with previous criminal backgrounds with the opportunity and resources to find employment and start anew.
This event offered job seekers the ability to connect with potential employers, fill out applications, and receive support from organizations such as Work One and Goodwill.
This opportunity was not only for those with a previous criminal history, but for anyone who is in search of support.
Throughout the duration of the event, ABC57 observed consistent foot traffic and a sense of hope for anyone seeking a second chance.
Jeff Walker, Executive Director of the Beacon Resource Center, stated, "It's hugely important to concentrate employers and resource providers into one space so that these individuals can come under one roof and get connected to 12 different employers or 15 different resource providers and hopefully walk out of here with more information and potentially a job."
