INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- It's full steam ahead for a new attraction at the The Indiana State Fair.
The new attraction will give fairgoers a chance to sit back, relax, and enjoy a scenic train ride through the Fairgrounds while taking in the sights from a new perspective.
The attraction will feature two trains, each with a capacity of approximately 90 passengers. Guests will board at a newly constructed depot and embark on a 15-minute round-trip ride along a one-mile track that loops through key areas on the north side of the Fairgrounds and return to the depot.
Ray Allison, Executive Director of the Indiana State Fair, said, “For many years, we have worked together (with North American Midway) to create unforgettable experiences for our guests. The addition of this new train ride builds on that shared commitment and gives families another way to experience all the Fair has to offer.”
The train ride is part of a broader focus on enhancing the guest experience ahead of the 2026 Fair. With large crowds expected again this summer, the addition provides a new family-friendly experience and another unique attraction for guests to enjoy during their visit to the Fair.
"Bringing the State Fair Train and depot to the Indiana State Fairgrounds is a dream come true," said Danny Huston, CEO of North American Midway. My goal has always been to create a place where families can slow down, share a moment, and make memories that last. I’m honored to help add a little wonder and connection to the Fairgrounds experience."
The 2026 Indiana State Fair runs from August 7 to August 23 (closed on Mondays.) For more information, ticket details, and attractions, be sure to visit our official website.
