Former Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard enters as new candidate in the race for Secretary of State

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Former Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard enters the candidate race for Secretary of State as a new independent candidate.

Ballard will now be on the statewide ballot after collecting thousands of signatures to qualify to run. He is helping start the "Lincoln Party", with the goal to give independent minded voters a choice outside the two major party candidates and the divisive political climate.

"Angry is not too strong a word for some of them. Disillusion, particularly for the younger generation. I say repeatedly that those under 40 have never seen the government work. They don't know what it looks like. All they've seen is people screaming at each other and then voting to make sure they don't get primary." says Ballard.

Greg Ballard will be up against republican Max Engling and Democrat Beau Bayh in the race to replace Diego Morales as Indiana Secretary of State.
