29th annual Shortcakes on the Blacktop returns to South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The annual Shortcakes on the Blacktop fundraiser returns to Downtown South Bend on June 8 for its 29th season.

The festival will take place from 11:00 a.m. through 5:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Cathedral of St. James, located at 117 N. Lafayette Boulevard.

For six dollars, customers can enjoy a sweet treat of homemade shortcake, which is topped with fresh strawberries, ice cream, and whipped cream.

Delivery is available to downtown South Bend locations, as well as Notre Dame, Saint Mary's and Holy Cross between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Those who wish to place deliveries must have an order of five or more shortcakes.

Pre-orders can be placed at 574-707-5130 beginning on June 1.

All proceeds will benefit Chiara Home, Dismas House, St. Margaret's House and direct ministry.
