NILES, Mich. -- The ice blocks arrived this morning ahead of the Hunter Ice Festival!
For 20 years now, the festival has brought thousands of people to the city of Niles, which has also offered a huge economic boost to the local businesses over the years, too.
Lisa Croteau, Program Manager for the for Niles DDA Main Street, estimates about $300,000 in revenue was generated from the event last year.
Carvers will be hard at work today through Friday chipping away at the ice, then the public is invited to come and see the finished sculptures and other interactive ice pieces Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
A full schedule and more information can be found on the Uncover Niles website.
