UPDATE 3:30 p.m.: According to the St. Joseph County Police Department, preliminary evidence suggests this double shooting might be the result of a domestic incident, but the investigation remains ongoing.

Authorities say a 51-year-old male died on scene this morning from his injuries, and a 53-year-old male remains hospitalized in critical condition from what investigators believe to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police are withholding both names pending the notification of family members.

NORTH LIBERTY, Ind. -- UPDATE: The St. Joseph County Police Department reports officers were dispatched to 100 block of Stewart Street in North Liberty just before 6:30 a.m., Thursday, for a caller reporting a shooting with multiple victims.

The report sates upon arrival officers found two shooting victims.

Police now confirm one of the two victims has died as a result of their injuries.

The second victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Currently, the victims' names are being withheld.

ORIGINAL STORY: Officials confirm with ABC57 the shooting happened just before 6:30 a.m. Thursday.

Police found the two shooting victims on 100 S. Stewart Street right off W. Center Street.

One victim was found dead from their injuries and the other was transported to the hospital.

Both names of the victims are being withheld at this time.
