18-year-old dies after shooting during large gathering in Howard Township

HOWARD TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Sunday’s shooting in the 2900 block of Yankee Street in Howard Township is under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

On July 28 around 2:00 a.m., 18-year-old Dayman Chatman of South Bend, Indiana died from shooting-related injuries while attending a large gathering located at the residence.

Officials say the homeowner was not at the residence when the shooting occurred.

Authorities interviewed witnesses at the scene and potential witnesses who left the scene are being sought for questioning. 

No suspects have been arrested.
