17-year-old dies several days after crash on US 12

CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- A 17-year-old has died from injuries received when he was struck by a vehicle on US 12 on January 8, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office..

Deputies said the victim, Samuel Gonzalaz, was on a non-motorized scooter when he was struck by a pickup truck.

Gonzalaz was a senior at WAY Eau Claire.

Gonzalaz died on Saturday, a little over a week after the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
