Man recovered from St. Joseph Lake was pronounced dead, the St. Joseph County Coroner Office says

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- The St. Joseph County Coroner Office confirmed Saturday that the man recovered from St. Joseph Lake on Notre Dame's campus has been pronounced dead.

Notre Dame police and fire departments, along with the South Bend Fire Department, were involved in a water rescue at St. Joseph Lake on Friday, according to a Notre Dame University spokesperson.

St. Joseph County dispatch said they received a call concerning a man in the lake at 7:15 p.m. Friday.

The spokesperson said the man was recovered from the lake and transported to Memorial Hospital.

It is still unknown if the man is involved with the university as a student, staff member or in any capacity.
