ELKHART, Ind.- The Elkhart Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit trains on a monthly basis for about 16 hours.
The team is the only one of it's kind serving Elkhart and surrounding counties.
The squad consists of three officers certified as bomb technicians through the FBI and U.S. Army.
During training, they use bomb suits, a robot, and a real time x-ray machine. Even their K9 Rita is put to the test.
“With the amount of the experience we have together. The experience everyone has everyone has going out on the calls. Just the training we do, we’re on top of it. If anything pops up, there’s pretty much anything we can’t handle," said Corporal Chris Bella.
