Driver arrested after leading troopers on two chases

ST.JOSPEH COUNTY, Mich. – The driver who allegedly led Michigan State Police on two pursuits Sunday afternoon is now in jail facing a pair of felony charges.

MSP says a trooper patrolling the area of Colon and Oral Engle Roads attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding when the vehicle took off away from the trooper at speeds exceeding 100 mph.

After losing sight of the vehicle, the trooper ended the chase.

A short time later, a second trooper spotted the suspect vehicle and attempted to stop it and the vehicle took off again.

According to MSP, the driver lost control, crashed, and overturned multiple times before fleeing on foot into a field.

He was eventually found in the field on the 51000 block of Hutchinson Road by a K-9 unit.

The 31-year-old driver from Schoolcraft was arrested and booked in jail for fleeing and eluding and operating while intoxicated.
