BENTON HARBOR, Mich – More changes come for the Benton Harbor School District under the guidance of Dr. Robert Herrera.
At Tuesday’s school board meeting many issues like staffing, which includes the new superintendent’s plan of hiring full-time teachers and substitute teachers along with merit based pay were brought up.
“The school board usually ends up approving all staff so we want to give them an update where we currently are at with our staffing trends” Benton Harbor Area Schools CEO Dr. Robert Herrera said but “the hiring is part of my authority now as the CEO” he went on to say.
Teachers attended the meeting saying they wanted to hear the new ideas and changes that will happen in the school district.
Dr. Herrera said this is one of many school board meetings throughout the school year and he plans on having forums to get feedback from the community.
“We have a concept of holding community forums or town hall meetings where we will go out and seek some input from the community in a broader scope” Herrera said.
