Groundbreaking for phase two of ’The Cascade’
MISHAWAKA, Ind. –- The Mishawaka VFW Post 360 presented its earnings from the 5th annual ‘Get Wet for a Vet’ event Wednesday evening.
According to the post's president, they met their goal of $35,000.
They are donating to local organizations that support the community’s veterans.
Some of the money will go toward Vets Helping Vets which are represented by the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association 14-3 Indiana.
“As a veteran with disabilities myself, it makes me feel incredible. It's just organizations out there that are such giving communities and people don't understand that the biker community is a very giving community and they want to be good cause to any effort and it's just heartfelt it's truly heartfelt,” said Jim Metherd, Committee Vice President
Thanks to the fundraiser, a vet with disabilities will be able to have a service animal to help them get around which can be pricy.
An organization that focuses on giving homeless veterans in our area housing will also get some of the dough.
