VIGO COUNTY, Ind. – An Indiana State trooper revived a fallen man with an Automated External Defibrillator in Terre Haute Thursday.

Trooper Rondell Shelton was near US 41 and Seventh Street when he was flagged down by a passerby. The passerby told the officer there was a “man down” on the shoulder of the road.

Shelton arrived and found other bystanders performing CPR on the man, so he grabbed the AED.

The trooper’s use of the defibrillator brought the victim’s pulse and breathing back.

The man was taken to the Terre Haute Regional Hospital for treatment, and according to officials, is doing well.

Bolt for the Heart is a non-profit organization which donated 200 AEDs to ISP. They committed to donate another 250 until every trooper is equipped with one.

Trooper Shelton was given his in the spring.
