The bells were ringing for the season of giving and the annual Red Kettle Ring Off Competition was in full swing Tuesday night.
The 6th annual competition between South Bend and Mishawaka had volunteers seeing who can help the Salvation Army’s Kroc Center raise the most money.
Donations were taken until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday night and after every cent was counted, they had a winner.
Team Mishawaka raised $1,726.43 at their location and they were crowned the winners for the friendly competition.
Team South Bend also collected quite a bit, coming in at $1,498.76 at their location.
Altogether, the two teams worked to raised $3,225.19 for St. Joseph County.
The money raised will go to help thousands of people in the community. The proceeds will fund the Family Resource Center which provides Christmas assistance, a food pantry, financial assistance for those in need, and a weekend food backpack program for students.
Those wishing to contribute can visit the Kroc Center’s website to make a donation to their cause.
