ELKHART, Ind. --- Family and friends of an Elkhart woman, who was killed in a shooting Saturday night, gathered for a vigil Sunday night.
The Elkhart County Prosecutor Vicki Becker confirmed Danielle Robinson, 34, was the victim of a shooting that happened near Morton Avenue and Short Street. Robinson’s family said the shooting was premeditated.
“She was a great woman and she didn’t deserve what happened to her,” said Myshaun Robinson, Robinson’s 15 year old son.
Elkhart Police said officers found Robinson, who was seven months pregnant according to family members, inside a home on Morton Ave. The department said officers provided immediate medical attention to her but say she was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Watch below a live stream of Sunday’s vigil:
Her son describes Robinson as “very protective” and “very strong.” He said she cared about all six of her children and the rest of her family.
Robinson’s family said police told them they have leads but no one in custody. Becker confirmed no one has been taken into custody yet.
“She wants me to be strong and keep moving forward in my life,” Robinson said. “Finish school and start a family and be there for my kids.”
Elkhart Police said there’s no danger present for the people living near the crime scene.
