Police make arrest in early morning home invasion

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – South Bend Police made an arrest after an armed home invasion was reported on the city’s west side Thursday morning.

According to SBPD, the crime happened around 4:45 a.m. on the 400 block of South Kenmore Street, less than a block south of Western Avenue.

The victim said two suspects entered the home with guns and stole a vehicle and electronics. No one was injured in the home.

An officer found the vehicle and a pursuit started near the intersection of Bendix Drive and Westmoor Street. The chase ended when the vehicle struck a pole near Bacon Heights Apartments. 

Police say one of the suspects, a juvenile, jumped from the car and ran. The juvenile was arrested.

Officers are still searching for the second suspect who is described as a black male wearing a dark hoodie, dark-colored pants, and a mask.
