One person injured in South Bend shooting

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- According to officials a shooting occurred shortly after 8 p.m. in South Bend leaving one person injured. It's the fifth shooting in South Bend since last Sunday. 

Dispatch says the call came in at 8:08 p.m.

According to authorities the incident took place on the 1300 Block of West Linden Avenue.

When officials arrived at the scene they found a 22-year-old man with a gunshot wound. The victim was alert and conscious and was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment. 

There is no suspect description at this time.

Since March 11, there have been five shootings injuring a total of 10 victims. None of the injuries have been life threatening. South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigeig addressed city gun violence in his State of the City last week. He said the key to lowering gun violence is the city's group intervention program. The program partners with community leaders and organizations to find gun violence solutions.
