Notre Dame loses a hard fought battle in Kissimmee Irish Classic finale

KISSIMMEE, FL. -- The University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish lost a tough one against Seattle 11-7 Sunday morning in the finale of the Kissimmee Irish Classic, according to a release from the university.

Irish junior Nick Podkul continued his 16-game hitting streak which dates back to 2017 while Jake Johnson continued his 17-game on-base streak which also dates back to last season.

Notre Dame Pitcher Cameron Junker tallied his first loss of the season despite pitching only three innings and striking out a career-high five batters.

The Fighting Irish will return to Florida for the spring trip as they compete in 8 games on a 10 day stretch. The Irish will start the trip with a three-game series in Miami from March 9th-11th and then move onto St. Joseph's from the 13th-14 before playing the Florida State Seminoles March 16th through March 18th.
