No injuries in St. Joseph County jail fire

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – South Bend Fire Department confirmed there were no injuries to firefighters or inmates from a fire at the St. Joseph County jail. 

South Bend Fire Department was called to cell fire in the J-Pod of the jail at 11:27 a.m. Monday.

A correctional officer saw the fire and put it out with an extinguisher.

Several inmates were moved to another housing unit following the discovery of the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
