Niles man sentenced to 15 years for Easter 2023 homicide

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Marcus Hatcher of Niles was sentenced to a total of 15 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections, three years for reckless homicide with a 12-year firearm enhancement.

Hatcher was charged in relations to the shooting death of 26-year-old Eddie Tyler on April 9, 2023.

Police say the two men were involved in an argument in a parking lot in the 200 block of S. Main St. when Hatcher began shooting at Tyler's vehicle.

Tyler was taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
