CHICAGO, Ill.- As victims and witnesses are still dealing with the shock and horror of the massive shooting that took place in Las Vegas, more and more details are coming in.
Chicago PD is acknowledging the reports stating 64-year-old Stephen Paddock had plans to be in the Windy City during a music festival hundreds of thousands of people would attend.
Chicago Police are investigating Paddock’s plan to possibly target Lollapalooza-goers in August.
According to reports, Paddock had booked two rooms at the Blackstone Hotel the weekend of the festival, that hotel is literally less than a ten minute walk away.
Anthony Guglielmi with Chicago Police says the city has extensive public safety planning for major events, which in this case, the 2017 Bank of America Chicago Marathon is next.
The latest tweet from Guglielmi states there will be heavy undercover presence at the marathon and more than 1,000 additional officers have been added.
Right now, it’s unknown if Paddock was ever in Chicago.
