MISHAWAKA, Ind. --- A Mishawaka mother remembered her 7-year-old son on Sunday, who was fatally struck by a car on Friday.
Brittany Councell said her son, Briyson, was a sweet boy who always brightened her day. She said the 7-year-old just celebrated a birthday in May and would’ve gone to 2ndgrade in August.
On Friday, St. Joseph County FACT said the boy was run over by a neighbor returning home from work. Police said a 22-year-old woman, driving a Lincoln Navigator, pulled into the backyard of a duplex near West 6thStreet and ran over Councell.
His mom said she had told the woman a day before to not park in the backyard because her children play there often. She said the two were playing in the backyard after dinner on Friday.
On Sunday, Councell told ABC 57 there is no way the woman did not see her son.
