Man shot by South Bend Police indicted by a grand jury

A federal grand jury has indicted a man who was shot by South Bend Police in September 2018 in the parking lot of a business on Marion Street.

Kristopher Mingo Flores, 18, has been charged with one count of felon in possession of a firearm.

The grand jury's decision was filed on October 10.

Flores had been charged with felon in possession of a firearm and pointing a firearm in St. Joseph County in connection with the September 24 shooting. At least one of those charges was dismissed on October 15.

Flores' initial hearing was held on October 15 and he was arraigned on Wednesday.

He entered a plea of not guilty.

A judge ordered Flores to the custody of the US Marshal and continued his detention hearing until October 22.
