Man flown to the hospital following injury

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- A 46-year-old man was flown to the hospital following an incident in the 12000 block of CR42. The Elkhart County Sheriff's Department is investigating the incident.

Deputies responded to a medical call at the residence around 8:30 a.m. Friday.

Initially, it was believed the man was injured after falling.

The man was flown to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne for his injuries.

While he was being treated, it was determined the injuries were sustained as a result of a firearm. Further details about his injuries were not released.

The investigation is ongoing.
