Elkhart man killed by vehicle on M-51 in Cass County

CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- Cass County deputies say a man is dead after being hit by a vehicle Sunday evening.
It happened on M-51 near Pokagon Highway in Pokagon Township.
Investigators say a car struck and killed Howard Payton, 53, of Elkhart
Deputies say the driver, a minor, told them she was driving west on M-51 when her vehicle hit Payton.
According to investigators, it's unclear whether drugs or alcohol were factors.
