Lake effect backs off this evening

NOW: Lake effect backs off this evening

The lake effect will finally start to back off today! Expect light snow to continue through the morning, but the majority of the flakes will retreat to Berrien and northern LaPorte counties throughout the afternoon before dissipating by the evening. 1”-3” are possible for northern St. Joe and Elkhart, Berrien, and Cass counties by the end of the day. Everyone else to the south can expect an inch or less.

Focus then shifts to another system on Sunday. System snow is possible throughout the midday and afternoon hours tomorrow as highs top out in the upper 20s. Temps could continue to climb overnight, causing the snow to change over to a wintry mix. Some light ice accumulations could be possible in spots, just in time for the morning commute! More snow could mix back in Monday morning as the wind shifts direction. By the afternoon, another 1”-3” could fall for most of Michiana, with lighter amounts farther south.

Highs stay in the 30s afterwards and even warm into the low 40s as one more system brings a rain/mix chance Thursday into Friday AM.

Today: Mostly cloudy with L.E. snow showers ending throughout the day, then partly sunny late. High of 15.

Tonight: Partly to mostly cloudy. Low of 2.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy with sct’d system snow. High of 29.

Monday: Cloudy with L.E. snow showers ending throughout the day. Highs in the low to mid 30s.
