Gun goes off while man attempts to rob ex-girlfriend

ELKHART, Ind. -- A shot was fired when a man allegedly attempted to rob his ex-girlfriend at her home on W. Lexington Avenue, according to Elkhart Police.
The victim told police at 12:25 p.m. Wednesday, someone knocked on her window. When she looked outside, she saw her ex-boyfriend, according to police.
The man told her he wanted to talk so she met him at the door.
The victim told police during the conversation, her ex-boyfriend got made and tried to take her phone and keys.
The two struggled and the man pulled out a handgun, which went off, police said.
The man then took the victim's keys and fled the scene.
No one was injured when the gun went off, according to police.
