Cloudy, breezy Wednesday morning; improvements this afternoon
ELKHART, Ind.-- Two weeks ago, 26-year-old Jacob Callahan was found in the middle of the road with serious injuries.
The suspect is still out there and his family is asking for your help to bring justice for Callahan.
Callahan died Sunday morning after suffering serious injuries from a hit and run crash by an unidentified man exactly two weeks ago.
"To be beaten to be hurt and left in the middle of the road no one deserves that," says Callahan's stepmother Sandy Baughman.
The unidentified driver drove off from the scene traveling eastbound on County Road 4.
"I want people to know that Jacob was a loving man, infectious smile, always made you laugh," Callahan's grandmother Dixie Roberts said.
Now the family is begging for someone to come forward.
"Anyone that knows something, just contact us, just let this family have closure. Please," said Callahan's aunt Colette Callahan.
While the investigation continues, the Callahans know he lives on through his donation of life.
"Every hero should have a medal, and Jacob and his final donation of life is to give others life and he is a hero," says Jacob's mother Stacey Callahan.
Investigators are asking that if anyone has information concerning the driver or the vehicle in question to please contact the Elkhart Sheriff's Department at 574-533-4151.
