Cheers Bar and Grill liquor license renewed following controversy
CASS COUNTY, Mich. - Court proceedings are postponed for a former Southwestern Michigan College professor accused of sexual assault.
During his scheduled pre-trial exam Wednesday, George Field asked for a lawyer.
Meanwhile, the investigation is still going on and it’s possible that Field has more victims or could face more charges.
According to the prosecutor, one victim was set to testify Wednesday, but will likely take the stand on October 25 due to the adjournment.
Field, a former professor of Southwestern Michigan College, is facing four criminal sexual conduct charges, and one charge of practicing psychology without a license.
“It continues to be a very active investigation, and we do encourage anyone that does have information about this case or any other potential victims to contact our office,” Cass County Prosecutor Victor Fitz said.
Field has been given a public defender but still has the option to retain an attorney.
