ELKHART, Ind. – Congresswoman Jackie Walorski has been recognized as a hero of small businesses by the National Retail Federation.
Walorski is a recipient of the 2018 Hero of Main Street award for her contribution to supporting small retailers and businesses.
Stephenson’s business owner, Danny Reynolds, of Elkhart, Indiana presented the award to Walorski Wednesday morning.
President of the Indiana Retail Council, Grant Monahan, was also in attendance at the award ceremony.
Walorski said, “I’m grateful for the award, and I’m grateful because its symbolic of what it means to support small businesses in your own community – buying local, supporting local businesses. But, small businesses alone is just such the backbone of the economy to the United States, and it’s the backbone to the economy in Indiana as well.”
The NRF said the distinguished award is given to leaders who support policies “that recognize the important contributions of the retail industry, and have worked to encourage a vibrant, sustained and healthy retail sector.”
