Cheers Bar and Grill liquor license renewed following controversy
ELKHART, Ind. -- A semi-truck heading east veered off the Indiana Toll Road a mile before State Road 19, crashing into an abandoned pickup truck and building Monday morning.
Indiana State Police say the semi crashed into a building owned by Altech Engineering.
No one inside the building was hurt.
An employee who was in a nearby building, described hearing a loud crashing sound as the semi slammed into the building.
Officials say the driver of the semi did suffer minor injuries and was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment.
Clean up of debris and damage continued throughout the day.
ISP Sergeant Ted Bohner said things could have been much worse.
“The silver lining here is that nobody in the building was injured. We look at these situations, we see a lot of property damage behind us, a lot of things that are going to have to be fixed but a lot went right,” he said.
