BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. - The pressure is mounting in Michigan's high school basketball tournament, as teams across the state vied for District Championships and to stay in the hunt for a state title.

Three teams from Southwest Michigan accomplished that feat - Benton Harbor, Cassopolis, and Dowagiac.

In Class B, the Tigers from Benton Harbor turned in another impressive showing as they topped South Haven 76-57. It marks the fourth district title in the past five seasons for the Tigers but the feeling is still new for some.

"It feels good, man. It's my first district championship," said senior Devan Nichols. "It was a tough game but we worked hard all night. Feels good to finally see us going home with a district championship trophy.

Benton Harbor now advances to the Regional in Coloma on Monday. Hudsonville Unity-Christian is next up for the Tigers, but they say the District week has given them plenty of reason to believe they can keep it rolling.

"It was a long week so it gives us a lot of confidence," said Nichols. "We know we can push through it every week and come out with a W. Just take it game by game."

Dowagiac also won its Class B district championship, taking down Paw Paw 66-48. The Chieftains now play Wayland Union in the Regionals.

In Class C, undefeated Cassopolis kept its perfect season going with a 81-74 victory over Brandywine. The Rangers advance to Monday's Regional at Constantine, where they will meet Homer.
