ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- The St. Joseph County Police pulled the body of a 76-year-old woman from a pond near the 11200 block of Wildwood Drive in Oceola around 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

Authorities say the woman had been missing since taking her dog for a walk earlier that morning.

"Before police and medics arrived family members found the woman floating in a pond behind the home," Public Information Officer for the St. Joseph County Police Department, Tryo Warner said. "The woman was taken by ambulance to the hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arriving."

Authorities say preliminary investigation by the coroner and police both on scene and at the hospital indicate that the woman suffered a medical attack prior to falling into the pond.
