SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The woman who police say left the scene of a deadly crash that killed a 6-year-old in August turned herself in Tuesday night.
The 5-month search for 26-year-old Reka Phillips ended around 8 p.m.
According to police, Phillips was driving a Chrysler 300 when she crashed into a Dodge Durango SUV at the intersection of Vassar and O’Brien on August 29th.
One of the occupants of the Dodge, 6-year-old Maliyah Davis, died due to her injuries.
Officials say Phillips allegedly stopped her vehicle, looked around, and fled on foot after the crash.
Phillips did not cause the crash.
She is due back in court.
