GARY, Ind. - An 18-year-old drowned in Lake Michigan on Saturday night.
He reportedly began swimming near Wells Street Beach and Marquette Park.
Multiple agencies began searching for him around 3 p.m. CST and his body was eventually recovered around 6 p.m. CST, about a mile away from where he was last seen.
Officials advised swimmers to stay out of the water and issued a red flag warning earlier in the day.
The Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating the incident. The individual's identity has not yet been released.
