Michigan City, Ind – Penn loses a nail bitter in semi-state championship.
Penn’s spectacular season comes to an end at the final buzzer.
A game that kept fans on their feet the entire fourth quarter and majority of the game with lead changes.
Penn was led by Indiana Mr. asketball candidate Markus Burton with 27 points.
On the other end, Kokomo’s big man Flory Bidunga put together 25 points, 22 rebounds, and 5 blocks.
“Not that they could hear me now but I wanted to communicate, what a great season they have put together. A great championship season and I'm glad that there's a lot of crying in the locker room because of the fact that it shows they put their heart into what we're doing,” said Penn Head Coach Al Rhodes.
“Hurts to lose, we worked super, extremely hard to get here, but we came up short one point and credits Kokomo for playing good. They had a really a good team and props to them and wish the best of luck to them state championship next week,” Burton added.
“What a great game. We never quit. Kokomo played well, we played well and they ended up on top,” Rhodes mentioned.
“It was it was hurtful. It was hurtful. I knew, after the last the last buzzer went off, I knew my high school season was over and I knew it was it was wraps and it was time for time to move on with my life and get ready for college basketball,” Burton said, as he prepares for his collegiate career at Notre Dame.
