Notre Dame's game against Ohio State Saturday night isn't just a homecoming for Head Coach Marcus Freeman, it's significant for Michiana native Reilly Jeffers.
Jeffers, a Mishawaka Marian grad and the son of the late Jeff Jeffers, is a program assistant for the Buckeyes. He works with running backs Coach Tony Alford.
Alford was an assistant at Notre Dame from 2009-2014.
Reilly played long snapper at Kansas under Charlie Weis and has been working his way through the coaching ranks.
"Started at Mishawaka Marian, I've got to give a lot of credit to Reggie Glon and Mike Davidson, providing a great program there. Playing at Kansas for Charlie Weis, obviously a Notre Dame connection there. And just continuing to blossom into a career in football. Getting to work with Tony Alford, who is a connection I made in South Bend and kind of led to what got me here at Ohio State and just enjoying the ride. Can't describe it," Jeffers said.
Reilly said he was raised on Notre Dame football, so this game is special for him.
