SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- When problems arise outside of school, it can be hard to stay focused academically.
That’s why Ivy Tech is making sure students have the resources they need to succeed beyond the classroom.
Students are set up for success with resources provided for things like food, transportation, even childcare, all through the school’s IvyCares program.
Sometimes called ‘Wraparound Services’, IvyCares also helps with things like mental health, through student counseling.
Dean of Student Success and Equity, Brantley Taylor says students don’t need to worry about anyone knowing they’re in need of these resources.
The school works discreetly to ensure all students have the tools they need to be successful throughout the school year.
Taylor says, “we make sure that we have staff that are trained to assist students to kind of point them in the right direction when they come into different types of challenges that they run into. So, it's something that we know as the institution we know, we focus on.”
