South Bend Police Department holds annual memorial for fallen...
CASSOPOLIS, Mich. -- When 2 U.S Navy SEALs were lost at sea off the Somalia coast at the beginning of the year, they were mourned nationally.
Navy Special Warfare Operator 1st Class, Christopher J. Chambers, 37, and Navy Special Warfare Operator 2nd Class, Nathan Gage Ingram, 27, were boarding a vessel in heavy seas when one fell in. The other jumped into help, but the rough seas and heavy body equipment tragically caused them both to drown.
In an effort to honor the men, a fellow SEAL and friend made a call from California, all the way to Cassopolis.
Jeff Nelson, Co-Owner of Bolt Laserworks answered, and took on the honor of creating two mirrors, memorializing the SEALs.
The framed mirrors feature the Navy SEAL Trident in gold at the top, and the SEAL Ethos etched in the middle.
Along with the order, Nelson says he's also donating etched granite plaques with the men's faces and names on them for Chambers' and Ingram's widows and parents.
He's also in talks to create an even bigger project commemorating the men - an actual granite memorial to be added to the men's base in San Diego.
More information on the two Navy SEALs and their service can be found at the ABC News website.
