BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- A boost in federal funding coming to Michiana to improve local hiking and biking trails.
United Way of Southwest Michigan just got $750,000 to expand the Niles-Buchanan trail connection project, which will extend the trail system by 4.2 miles from McCoy's Creek Trailhead in Buchanan to Winn Road in Niles and connect the two cities.
Advocates for the project say this will help bring the people together and encourage more people to bike to work.
