SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Today's event was all about raising money for Michiana when The Second Annual Golic SubPar Classic took place at Warren Golf Course.
Former legendary Notre Dame football player Mike Golic Sr. and his family hosted a fundraising event for local charities. Part of that event included a round of golf with Irish celebrities.
Many of the celebrities that took part in the Night on the Green auction last night were out on the course, in the rain, for a great cause. This year, the proceeds benefit Logan Center, Center for the Homeless, Cultivate Food Rescue, and Humane Society of St. Joseph County.
"My family's been associated with Notre Dame since 1975 between my brothers and my kids, my wife, so this is kind of a second home to us," said Mike Golic Sr.
"We're all out here for a great cause," shared former Notre Dame Tight End Kyle Rudolph, "what the Golic family means not only to the University of Notre Dame, but the South Bend community is incredible."
With the event, the Golic's made it a mission to pour into a community that gave so much to them over the years.
There was also, of course, some good old-fashioned friendly competition among former Notre Dame athletes, and moments of pouring rain to make it all the more interesting.
There were even nearly identical moments of celebration from both Mike Golic Jr., and Sr.
Ultimately, the team including former legends Kyle Rudolph, Dayne Crist and Braxton Cave came out on top at the SubPar Classic and were rewarded with green jackets at the awards ceremony.
