Warm and dry weekend
SOUTH BEND, Ind – The defensive line is looking to make noise with new faces and players in new positions this season.
The defensive line is led by second-year coach, Al Washington, whose biggest task this year is replacing the production of Notre Dame’s all-time sacks leader, Isaiah Foskey.
Last season the defense racked up 38 sacks, 11 of which coming from Foskey.
This year, Washington is looking for new players to step up and take advantage of the voids on the defensive line, as the rule is that success starts at the line of scrimmage.
“I think the development is huge. I think for me, a year earlier, some guys are like lightyears ahead of where they were, you know, so, like, Jason Onye, you guys just talked to Gabe Rubio, Jordan Botelho. You know, I think it's, it's been pretty awesome to see, you know, how guys have, you know, really developed and taken to the techniques, taken to the work and really committed themselves to it,” Washington said.
“We're just focused on the like, what's supposed to happen with this was us trying to go there and trying to beat Navy. That's the main thing we're trying to do. Yes, in Ireland, yes. And Dublin. But the whole thing is like we have a job to do there,” defensive lineman Jason Onye added.
Through fall camp, the defensive line has been seen with the lots of positive energy, and it stems from their position coach, Al Washington.
