Woman who stole from Swanson Highland Swimming Pool fund sentenced

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The woman who pleaded guilty to the theft of funds from the Swanson Highland Swimming Pool was sentenced on Wednesday, according to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office.

Amy Burris, 43, was sentenced to 30 months for one count of theft. She will serve 12 months at the St. Joseph County Jail and 18 months of the sentence were suspended.

She must also serve 18 months on probation, complete 150 hours of community service and pay $43,151.31 in restitution.

Burris was the treasurer of the pool from July 2015 to July 2017.

She pleaded guilty to theft in August 2019. As part of the plea agreement, the other charges against her were dismissed.
